Santani Wellness Resort & Spa is one of Sri Lanka’s most serene and restorative retreats, designed to rejuvenate mind, body, and soul amidst the lush mountains of Digana.

Set within 48 acres of verdant landscape, this tranquil sanctuary offers breathtaking views of the Knuckles and Hunnasgiriya mountain ranges, making it an idyllic escape from the demands of modern life. Par of Sri Lanka’s growing portfolio of wellness resorts, Santani is rooted in holistic healing, with a particular focus on Ayurvedic therapies, complemented by a selection of relaxation treatments designed for deep renewal. At the heart of the resort, the elegantly minimalist main pavilion home to the lounge, bar, and restaurant sits atop a hillock, offering 360-degree views of the spectacular natural surroundings. Here, guests can unwind in a setting that blends modern simplicity with the timeless tranquility of the Sri Lankan highlands.

Accommodation at Santani Wellness Resort & Spa is thoughtfully designed to harmonise with its surroundings, offering 18 elegantly minimalist rooms. Among these, 16 stand-alone Mountain View Chalets are elevated on stilts, minimising environmental impact while maximising the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountain ranges an inspiring setting for meditation and reflection. Each chalet is furnished with either a king-sized bed or twin beds, along with comfortable seating, a wardrobe, and an ensuite bathroom featuring a hot-water shower. Large windows frame the stunning landscape, inviting natural light and fresh mountain air. The remaining two rooms, set apart from the chalets, share a common living area and overlook the tranquil paddy fields, offering a more intimate retreat. To preserve the resort’s atmosphere of peace and mindfulness, Santani welcomes guests aged 12 and above, and rooms are designed for double occupancy only.

The hotel sits at a high elevation of approximately 2,800 ft (850m) above sea level, so can be cooler and wetter at certain times of year

The emphasis on digital detox here may not suit those seeking constant connectivity

The hotel only accepts guests aged 12 years old and over and with its focus on a calm, healing retreat would not be an ideal choice for a family stay

The hotel is celebrated for its holistic approach to sustainability, seamlessly integrating environmental stewardship, community engagement and wellness practices. This runs through every element of the hotel’s management from the use of renewable energy and water conservation to eco-conscious architecture and the sourcing of culinary ingredients, all of which come from nearby organic farms.

The resort is approximately 20 minutes from the cultural centre of Kandy via a scenic drive through the verdant hills and tea plantations. Udawattakele Forest Reserve and Knuckles Mountain Range are both a bout 7km (4.5miles) from the hotel and worth a visit for their rich biodiversity.

What our travellers say

We went to Sri Lanka as a three-generation family of three. The superb trip was organised by Samanthie and the team and it's difficult to see how it could have been bettered.
Roy Wood (February 2026)
Red Dot organised the most wonderful 3-week holiday for us. Samanthie built a trip around the amazing sights we had requested visiting, together with her own suggestions and a wide mix of hotels, which gave us the flavours of both traditional Sri Lanka and the sleek, stylish contemporary version of the country. Our Driver made the whole experience incredibly special for us.
Alie C (February 2026)
I can’t thank Cherylle and the Red Dot team enough for their meticulous planning of our family holiday to India travelling through Rajasthan over Christmas. As a family of all adults, every suggestion from daily activities to hotel choices was simply perfect. We travelled through Delhi, Ranthambore (an unforgettable tiger safari!), Jaipur and Agra and I truly feel we experienced the very best of each destination while moving at a relaxed, well thought out pace
Daisy Stanton (February 2026)
My partner arranged a holiday trip at fairly short notice to Sri Lanka with Red Dot on a recommendation, Samanthie was so patient & helpful with her suggested itinerary which we followed with some minor amendments. On arrival at Colombo we met Manjula our chauffeur/guide who was absolutely brilliant!
Andrew S (February 2026)
Dulmini and the Red Dot Team arranged a fantastic trip for us around Assam and North East India. Faultless service. I cannot recommend them more highly.
Martin Thomas (February 2026)
Wonderful company. Our holiday in Sri Lanka was perfect. Local knowledge made all the difference
Sandra Nicholson  (February 2026)
We looked up, and communicated with umpteen tour operators. Though Red Dot seemed to have offices in Sri Lanka and the UK, they seemed to have the best reviews. We were fortunate enough to correspond with Cherylle, who not only assured us of the safety of our friend, but created a personalised, and flexible, itinerary which we could not have done ourselves.
Jayant Banerji (February 2026)
A 14-day tour with Red Dot Tours was the perfect antidote to the bleak UK winter. After a glowing recommendation from a friend, we contacted Red Dot Tours and were not disappointed. Our consultant, Lahiru, curated a seamless itinerary. Throughout the planning phase, Lahiru was incredibly responsive; the final itinerary—delivered via a user-friendly 'Guest Portal'—was impressively detailed, covering every hotel stay and excursion.
