The property blends heritage architecture with sophisticated contemporary design, offering an elegant yet relaxed atmosphere. Originally the site of a school, the building retains the character of its storied past with rooms named after academic departments and some of its historical artefacts from later roles as first the Bank of Ceylon and then a printing press on display.
Adjacent Dutch-period villas have recently been incorporated into the hotel and their rooms can either be booked individually or as stand-alone properties, ideal for those seeking added privacy. Guests have access to all the amenities in the main building, including a small outdoor swimming pool and a bistro that serves a blend of Sri Lankan and Mediterranean food both in its dining room or outside in a frangipani lined courtyard.

As the hotel is in the heart of the fort, it can be a little noisy at times but the location more than compensates for this as it is so easy to explore from here on foot
