The Sri Lanka Travel Specialists
Nooit Gedacht is one of Sri Lanka’s great heritage properties – certainly one of its greatest budget heritage properties. The property was built in 1735 by a Dutch Governor and still retains some original Dutch architectural features. It is an oasis of peace close to the lively Unawatuna beach, surrounded by beautiful gardens which invite a variety of colourful birdlife. Stone paths covered with a canopy of trees create an enchanting walkway between the rooms.
There are three types of room at Nooit Gedacht, we recommend:
Superior Rooms: located in the newly-built wing next to the main pool, these rooms are spacious and have lake or mountain views. Rooms are either double or twin and all have a private terrace and a mini bar.
Governor’s Room: decorated with antique furniture and a four-poster bed, this large room is separate from the other room complexes and has its own private outdoor dining area.
All rooms have A/C and a fan, an ensuite bathroom with h/w shower and mosquito nets round the beds.
Nooit Gedacht has two swimming pools, an Ayurveda centre with a range of spa treatments and yoga and meditation classes can be arranged on request. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property. The restaurant serves a range of Eastern and Western cuisine and uses fresh ingredients grown in their own garden. They also offer a laundry service.
Nooit Gedacht is just off the main road from Galle to Unawatuna. Galle Fort is a ten minute drive away and the beach is a short walk from the hotel. About 2.5 hours from the airport.
