Cherylle Sargent

Sales and Service Manager, UK Office

Few people know the Indian subcontinent the way Cherylle does. Well over a decade in travel, much of it at the top end of the market with one of the UK's most upscale tour operators, have made her one of Red Dot's most assured designers and India specialists. India is her first love and specialist subject, and she plans with the same depth across Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bhutan.

The park that has everything

Satpura, my favourite park

Satpura is my favourite national park anywhere. On a single game drive I have seen leopard, tiger, crocodile, python and sloth bear, and in the right month the birding is extraordinary.

It is a beautiful, unusual park, and one of the few where you can take to the water and kayak across the lake in season, something most parks simply cannot offer.

“The considered and authentic will always beat the obvious.”

What Cherylle brings to your trip

Wildlife and birding are Cherylle's great passions, especially in India, alongside a deep love of culture and history. She is brilliant at gently steering clients towards the things they would never have thought to ask for, and with years of experience and many research trips under her belt, her first-hand knowledge of India is hard to compete with.

Why I love India

India gets under your skin. The colour makes the world feel more vivid, the wildlife and birding are extraordinary, history runs deep, and the culture shifts noticeably from one state to the next. Riding a Marwari horse across Rajasthan, exploring Hampi, standing inside Madurai's Meenakshi Temple and understanding Calcutta are the things that stay with me.

The most remote corner

The most remote place I have travelled is Bhutan. The flight into Paro threads between Himalayan peaks, and on the ground the air is crisp, the landscape largely untouched and the culture entirely its own. There is a stillness here that is increasingly rare.

What sets a Red Dot trip apart

It comes down to a small, expert team that refuses to do generic. With offices in the UK and Sri Lanka, and trusted partners across the subcontinent, there is genuine local knowledge behind every plan and real support across time zones. Nothing is built from a template.

Away from the desk

Outside work I rarely sit still. I ride, scuba dive, snorkel, hike, run, paddleboard, kayak and bird. I love tree frogs, birds and anything wildlife related, and you will just as often catch me sipping chai with locals.
