Golden Triangle

India
8 days (7 nights)
Rickshaw rides through Delhi’s markets, a heritage walk among the Mughal masterpieces of Agra, off the beaten track exploration at a rural stepwell and time to stop and stare among ornate palaces and forts in Jaipur, India’s Golden Triangle awaits.

This private itinerary shows how, with one week to travel India, you can discover the Golden Triangle’s (Delhi, Agra and Jaipur) cultural heart with our private guides and local hosts.

Inspired? Tell us your interests, and we’ll design a completely bespoke itinerary to India built around your own highlights and our longstanding expertise.

You’ll be met on arrival at Delhi by your driver, who’ll take you straight to your hotel to settle in. The journey offers snatched glimpses of this vibrant city, from the buzzing of tuk-tuks to the bright saris and streetside chaiwallahs.

Expect ornately carved mosques, labyrinthine market streets, bustling Sikh kitchens, elegant colonial architecture and Taj-inspiring tombs, as your private guide takes you between Old and New Delhi today, alternating between criss-crossing alleyways on a rikshaw to the serenity of landscaped gardens.
See
  • Jama Masjid, rikshaw ride, Chandni Chowk, Spice Market, Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, Lutyen’s Delhi, Humayun’s Tomb
Take some time to relax this morning before your afternoon drive to Agra. This evening, you’ll learn about Mughal culture with a city heritage walk, culminating in breathtaking sunset views of the Taj Mahal from across the river.
See
  • Mughal Heritage Walk
An early start to watch the kaleidoscopic dawn colours dancing on the Taj Mahal’s marble. This afternoon, you’re diving into the marvels of Mughal architecture from the regal Red Fort to the ornate ‘baby Taj’, before the artisanal trail unveils local craftsmanship.
See
  • Taj Mahal, Red Fort, Itmad-ud-Daula, Artisanal Trail
You’re driving to Jaipur this morning, through the heart of Rajasthan with a stop at the deepest stepwell in India at Abhaneri. You’ll pass brightly coloured trucks bedecked with flowers, cattle grazing the roadside and catch unique glimpses of rural life.
See
  • Abhaneri Stepwell
A day of inspirational architecture and rich history today as your guide introduces you to the impressive sights of ‘the pink city’. You’ll be delving into Jaipur’s palatial royal residences, mirrored halls, star-reading monoliths, latticed windows and panoramic viewpoints.
See
  • City Palace, Jantar Mantar, Hawa Mahal, Amber Fort
Today you’re free to make your own plans, maybe wandering the markets or relaxing at your hotel. We recommend venturing into the Johari Bazaar, the epicentre of Jaipur’s gemstone trade, or perhaps following the footsteps of royalty and celebrities at The Gem Palace.
After a morning to relax, you’re driving back to Delhi this afternoon to catch your flight home. You’ll have time to soak in the last views as your drive takes you through the ancient Aravalli Hills and dry scrublands bordering the Thar desert.

What our travellers say

We went to Sri Lanka as a three-generation family of three. The superb trip was organised by Samanthie and the team and it's difficult to see how it could have been bettered.

Red Dot organised the most wonderful 3-week holiday for us. Samanthie built a trip around the amazing sights we had requested visiting, together with her own suggestions and a wide mix of hotels, which gave us the flavours of both traditional Sri Lanka and the sleek, stylish contemporary version of the country. Our Driver made the whole experience incredibly special for us.

I can’t thank Cherylle and the Red Dot team enough for their meticulous planning of our family holiday to India travelling through Rajasthan over Christmas. As a family of all adults, every suggestion from daily activities to hotel choices was simply perfect. We travelled through Delhi, Ranthambore (an unforgettable tiger safari!), Jaipur and Agra and I truly feel we experienced the very best of each destination while moving at a relaxed, well thought out pace

My partner arranged a holiday trip at fairly short notice to Sri Lanka with Red Dot on a recommendation, Samanthie was so patient & helpful with her suggested itinerary which we followed with some minor amendments. On arrival at Colombo we met Manjula our chauffeur/guide who was absolutely brilliant!

Dulmini and the Red Dot Team arranged a fantastic trip for us around Assam and North East India. Faultless service. I cannot recommend them more highly.

Wonderful company. Our holiday in Sri Lanka was perfect. Local knowledge made all the difference

We looked up, and communicated with umpteen tour operators. Though Red Dot seemed to have offices in Sri Lanka and the UK, they seemed to have the best reviews. We were fortunate enough to correspond with Cherylle, who not only assured us of the safety of our friend, but created a personalised, and flexible, itinerary which we could not have done ourselves.

A 14-day tour with Red Dot Tours was the perfect antidote to the bleak UK winter. After a glowing recommendation from a friend, we contacted Red Dot Tours and were not disappointed. Our consultant, Lahiru, curated a seamless itinerary. Throughout the planning phase, Lahiru was incredibly responsive; the final itinerary—delivered via a user-friendly 'Guest Portal'—was impressively detailed, covering every hotel stay and excursion.
