Introduction

Sielen Diva is a seven-bedroom boutique hotel in the quiet coastal town of Thalpe, a short drive from Galle and its 17th century Dutch fort. Poised on the edge of an idyllic tropical beach and boasting sensational views of the Indian Ocean, Sielen Diva offers guests a total beach escape within easy reach of this region’s myriad of activities. Accommodation

Sielen Diva has seven spacious rooms across different levels of the property, so guests can choose between elevated views or direct garden access. All rooms are well-furnished with a wardrobe and comfortable queen-sized or king-sized bed, and can accommodate an additional cot if required. The ensuite bathrooms are fitted with rain-showers. Additional in-room facilities are air-conditioning, ceiling fans, an electronic safe and smart TV, and Wi-Fi, a hairdryer, toiletries and a bathrobe and slippers are included as standard amenities.

Monara: This 270sqft room is located on the ground floor, with easy access to the swimming pool. The highlight is the private outdoor terrace and floor-to-ceiling windows which look out to the ocean.

Musikaya and Mayil: These are the two middle bedrooms on the first floor, each 320sqft. These two rooms have queen-sized beds rather than king-sized like the rest of the rooms, but they have the addition of a free-standing bathtub and small living space, and also boast floor-to-ceiling windows.

Mora: This first floor room is 460sqft and also has the addition of a free-standing bathtub. Glorious ocean views from the comfort of your bed.

Yanai: Yanai is the largest first floor room, with a total area of 580sqft and the addition of two seating areas on either side of the bed. Yanai also has a luxurious bathroom with a bathtub as well as a rain-shower. The floor-to-ceiling windows ensure stunning ocean views.

Eli Kunji: One of the garden suites, this room has a separate seating area as well as the elegant additions of a dressing area and ‘his and her’ sinks. There is also a free-standing bathtub. The room has direct access to the garden and a small sit out with two deck chairs. An extra bed can be accommodated.

Aliya: The largest room at Sielen Diva, Aliya is the other garden suite, boasting separate seating, dining and dressing areas, as well as a small inner courtyard. The bathroom has a rain-shower, bathtub and ‘his and her’ sinks. Finally, it has deck chairs and direct garden access. An extra bed can be accommodated.

Facilities

Sielen Diva’s spacious gardens are edged by an idyllic infinity pool, which has glorious ocean views, a sunset terrace and an outdoor dining / BBQ area. The garden itself has a scattering of sun-loungers and direct beach access through the bottom gate, and there is a selection of outdoor games equipment available. Inside you will find: a rooftop terrace; a 14-seater dining table; many lounging spaces; a library with 250 books, and a games room with a pool table, table-football, dart board and TV and DVDs. Cooking demonstrations, cocktail mixing classes, mask-making, yoga and meditation and in-room massages can all be organised on request.

A variety of cuisine is available, from traditional Sri Lankan dishes to comforting western fare. Fresh seafood is a highlight, purchased daily from local fishermen. Meals can be customised to individual preferences, including any intolerances or allergies – please mention these prior to arrival. Choose to dine at the large table, on the terrace, in the garden or close to the beach.

Sielen Diva is set on a tranquil beach in Thalpe, hidden away from the main road yet just 15 minutes from the historic Galle Fort. Colombo is two-and-a-half hours away via the highway whilst whale watching opportunities in Mirissa are just half-an-hour away.
