As many of the hotels in Colombo are designed for business travellers, or holidaymakers just spending one or two nights, yoga and meditation classes are more commonly available in independent venues around the city. If you are seeking a moment of calm in the midst of Sri Lanka’s bustling capital city, retreat to one of the following studios and indulge in a relaxing yoga class, which are available in many different practice styles, or a meditation workshop.
Prana Lounge is a highly reputable city centre studio which focuses on offering a range of natural methods that promote mental and physical wellbeing, from yoga and meditation classes, health-related therapies and similarly-themed events and workshops. They also have a fantastic health food café (Café Kumbuk) which caters to special dietary requirements (including Veganism) where you can enjoy a hydrating smoothie or light lunch after your session.
The Om Space is another favourite, located a little further from the city centre in Havelock City. The first dedicated yoga studio in Colombo, The Om Space offers a wide range of yoga styles including Sivananda, Hatha, Vinyasa Flow and Kundalini, as well as yoga for sports, for children and pre-natal yoga, all conducted by certified teachers who have been internationally trained. Reflexology treatments, Reiki and massages are also available here.
