The fort is divided into three sections: the public areas, the Maharaja's palaces, and the zenana, or queens' palaces. The zenana is especially stunning, with intricate sandstone filigree work adorning its walls.
Inside the fort is a museum, which features a diverse range of exhibits, including a remarkable collection of royal palanquins and an impressive section dedicated to howdahs—ornate elephant seats, with perhaps the finest collection of their kind in the world. Nearby, Jaswant Thada, a 19th-century royal crematorium, stands as a tribute to Maharaja Jaswant Singh II, the 33rd Rathore ruler of Jodhpur. Built from brilliant white marble, the cenotaph here commemorates his legacy.
