The Pekoe Trail is a newly formed trekking route through Sri Lanka's tea country, and this is just one section. Doing this through one of our private guides brings the trail to life. The trail winds along Demodera Spring Valley Road past tea estates and the elegant Nine Skies Bungalow, a restored colonial planter's house. After crossing Badulla Bridge, you'll climb gradually through winding paths toward the tea fields, passing the Demodara Tea Estate office at 3.6 kilometers.
The route's highest point at 6.5 kilometers offers spectacular views back to Demodara and Ella, perfect for refreshments. The final stretch descends 3 kilometers through stunning scenery: giant purple bougainvillea, shaded forests with towering trees, and charming tea worker villages. Pass the historic Uva Planters' Club, established in 1880, before reaching Hali Ela Train Station. This family friendly experience includes refreshments and your dedicated guide. Cap and sunscreen recommended.
