Galle Lace Making

Learn traditional beeralu lace making during this hour-long workshop at a Galle family home, where your host from a lineage of skilled artisans guides you through the complete process from sketching patterns to weaving threads around pins on a lace pillow.

Working with wooden bobbins and graph paper, you'll create your own piece whilst hearing stories about this intricate Sri Lankan craft's history and cultural significance. The session concludes with viewing an exquisite collection of completed lace pieces before taking home your handcrafted creation.
