Jaffna by Tuk Tuk

Explore Jaffna's unique heritage and historic landmarks during this 2-hour tuk tuk tour. We normally start this at 9am or 4pm, but this is flexible.

Your driver and host guide will take you through the city's rich heritage and vibrant local life, which is so unique to this area. Jaffna feels very different from the rest of Sri Lanka, with a strong Tamil influence. You will visit Minister Palace, a relic from the ancient Jaffna Kingdom once home to King Cankili's minister. Surrounded by historical sites, including Sattanathar temple, this region reveals the area's royal past.

As part of this unique tour, you'll experience the bustling Chunnakam market, with it's lively atmosphere whilst discovering local produce and handicrafts made from palmyra and coconut trees from your open-air tuk tuk. Stop at the resilient Jaffna Public Library, rebuilt after the 1981 arson attack that destroyed over 100,000 books, now standing as a symbol of knowledge and recovery. The trip concludes at historic Jaffna Fort, a 1618 Portuguese construction later expanded by the Dutch and controlled by the British until 1948.
